Acute Toxicity of Porcine Somatotrophin in Rats and Mice

Abstract
This study was carried rout to investigate the acute toxicity of porcine somatotrophin(PST) in both sexes of Sprague-Dawley rats and ICR mice. The PST is a recombinent porcine growth hormone, and was subcutaneously given to rats and mice up to 1000 times of clinical dosage(0.1 §·/§¸ B.W. in porcine). PST did not induce any toxicological effect such as mortality. clinical findings, gross findings and body weight changes in rats and mice. It was estimated that LD_(50) value was over 100 §·/§¸ B.W.
